Services to Candidates

Alford & Bishop was created in 1992 to provide a recruitment service driven by the long-term needs of candidates and clients alike. Because we see this service as personal, we have deliberately stayed small.

Our assignments span the recruitment of solicitors, legal executives, locums, practice managers, legal cashiers, company secretaries and in-house legal advisers.

We can help you if you are a solicitor, legal executive, paralegal or legal cashier. You should have a minimum of six months' experience in private practice or commerce and industry in England and Wales. If you hold a non-English legal qualification, you must be able to prove you have the right to work in England. We have been able to assist lawyers with Commonwealth, Irish, Scottish or US qualifications, but only if they can work in England, are resident here and have passed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS). Our chances of being able to assist non-UK lawyers are very much reduced unless they have some experience of private practice here.

As specialists, we offer a high quality service. You will be dealing with an experienced consultant who has been recruiting successfully for years. Your consultant will put your interests first and will not be under pressure to make a placement at all costs.

Your consultant will be in close contact at all times. This allows you to control the recruitment process. You will be dealing with the same consultant throughout to ensure continuity.

The salary information on the right relates to private practice in the South, excluding London.
